Disneyland Dresses Up For Halloween
I have found sharing your opinion of Disney can be highly controversial. I have friends who have annual passes at Disneyland in Anaheim, CA and they think it truly is the happiest place on earth. Some people locals take their kids for an afternoon of fun while young couples may visit for a date night. Yes, the classics still exist and there is way too much to do in one day, but it could use a little facelift. Tomorrowland was once a high tech glimpse into the future, but it looked a bit like Yesterdayland. Once I described it to a friend as the step-brother to Disney World in Orlando, FL and you would have thought I insulted their best friend!
Let’s be clear: I had a very nice time at Disney this fall, but I’m probably the wrong person to review the park. Instead I want to show you what it looks like pre-Halloween. The park is decorated with fall colors and filled with pumpkins.
DISNEYLAND DRESSES UP THE PARK FOR HALLOWEEN
ANAHEIM, CA—Between the beautiful fall weather and school being back in session, October may be the best time of year to visit Disneyland. As you would expect Disney dresses up the park. From September 12-October 31 there is a giant Mickey pumpkin just inside the park, which is a great backdrop for a family photo and just one of the hundreds displayed down Main Street U.S.A.
Several of the rides are outfitted with Halloween decorations like the Haunted Mansion which is themed from Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas. It might be a little scary for really little ones, but appropriate for most children.
The classic Space Mountain becomes Ghost Galaxy. Honestly I remember Space Mountain being scary as a kid, but I was a little disappointed as an adult. The rollercoaster is old and all you see is blackness and some twinkles of stars throughout the ride. The best part is definitely the music, which you can hear in the background of the video.
We also popped over to The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, which wasn’t decorated much for the holiday, but obviously appropriate for the season. That was probably my favorite ride. There were interesting things to look at while in line at the haunted hotel and there’s a cute plotline to go with it.

Keep in mind, the trip won’t be cheap. A one-day pass is close to $100. See a full price list at the end of the video.
If you do visit from out of town, consider staying at one of the many properties across the street. I picked the Best Western because it was in walking distance and the room included parking.
