California Dreamin’ in Santa Monica

California is one of the most popular brands in the world. We traveled to Santa Monica to enjoy the beach and stumbled upon a budget friendly hotel in a great location.

We were in town on a busy weekend and it was going to be very expensive to stay by the Third Street Promenade, which is several blocks of pedestrian traffic lined with restaurants, bars, and shops.  I stumbled upon this nearby hotel, which was also just two blocks from the beach! The water was–cold as always, yet surfers brave it in their wetsuits everyday.  It really is where California stereotypes begin.  If you haven’t been before, know there is a beautiful bike bath along the sand with food, drinks, and bike rentals.

If you head to the Promenade keep your head up. There are often cameras or talent scouts looking for the next game show contestant, reality star, or ridiculous interview.  You can expect some free entertainment from dancers and other street performers.  There are plenty of shops and places to dine as well.
